Wackiest maps

2013-09-26 14:25

We recently stumbled across TargetMap, a website researchers can use to create map graphs of their various topics of study. Well, like with anything open to public use, it hasn't remained boringly academic.

So, whether you want to know how your body parts compare with the rest of the world's or maybe what your chances are of getting laid in your next destination, this is the site to search.

Here are a few of the weirdest maps we came across.

The weenie map

Ever wondered what the size distribution of penises are around the globe? Well, there's a map for that. Created by a TargetMap enthusiast known only as the Onion Slayer, this map will give you a good indication of where you or your partner stand in relation to the rest of the nation. The map has been viewed more than 13 million times.

Average breast cup size

Well, the creator of the map cites no sources, nor do they give any useful information about how they went about their research, but here you go nonetheless.

Bang chance

Also created by The Onion Slayer, The Bang Chance Index(BCI) measures the posibility of having FREE sex in a country. It was apparently created using some indicators that you can find in the Durex Global Survey of 2005.

Based on a Wikipedia article, this map provides a visual representation of the world's active volcanoes. Fortunately it seems like we're pretty safe down here on the southern tip of Africa.

Billionaires on the planet

This map has been based on Forbes' list of billionaires, providing a visual representation of where the richest of the rich tend to conglomerate.

World airports

Not exactly weird, but interesting nonetheless, this map gives users a good idea of the number of airports present in different countries and parts of the world. Also, obviously, suggesting something about the prevalance of air travel.

World happiness

The second annual World Happiness Report was released earlier this month by a coalition of researchers who drew upon Gallup World Poll data from the past three years to rank 156 countries around the globe on aspects such as healthy life expectancy and social support. Countries got a ranking out of 10, with the happiest scoring well over 7 and the unhappiest below four.

Average height by country

Well, according to this map, we're a country of pretty tall people. Check how we compare with the rest of the world.
