MAP: What each country leads the world in

2013-10-21 15:15
In many ways the world is a macrocosm of high school - there are the popular countries and the pariahs, those who are good at everything and those who barely scrape by with the most basic of things, the rebels and the goodie-two-shoes.

Like high school, there are only a handful of countries that seem to rule the roost, however if you make the effor to look a little harder, you will find that each and every nation has something unique to contribute.

Online comic site, Dog House Diaries, has released a map highlighting what each country leads the world in. Based on Wikipedia articles, it may not be the most accurate ever, but still it's kind of amusing.

Like who knew that Russia was the lead producer of raspberries and nuclear warheads (well, the raspberry bit at least), or that the USA boasts the most deaths by lawnmower? And South Africa leads the world in OSTRICHES? What does that even mean?!

Then there are a few that sort of make sense - like India being the world leader in 'Movies,' what with their booming Bollywood industry and the South Pole leading in Emperor Penguins. If you're not the touchy feely type, then Greenland should certainly be on your bucket list, as they are at the forefront of 'Personal Space,' while caffeine junkies should certainly make their way to Finland, which is apparently renowned for its citizens' coffee-drinking habit.

Ah, and poor old Australia - Deadly animals and Melanoma is their biggest contribution to the world... yet, they're still one of the most sought after countries to call home and made it onto the list of top 10 happiest in the world.
