Dubai - The second tower at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, the world’s tallest hotel, is now open, with 294 new rooms bringing the total room count in the hotel to 1098.

The hotel, which opened 804 rooms in Tower 1 in November 2012, will offer 1608 rooms across the two towers when complete.

On June 1, 1350 rooms will be operational and on September 1, the hotel will reach the final count of 1608 rooms, a spokesperson told Hotelier Middle East.

There will also be two new F&B outlets in Tower 2, which is identical in design to Tower 1. One is rumoured to be a Latin bar, while at the top of the hotel, the 72nd floor may be operated as a function space for hire.

“We are imagining amazing parties and weddings and perhaps even pop-up restaurants,” said the spokesperson, although the use of the space is yet to be confirmed.

The hotel, which is owned by Emirates Group, boasts nine restaurants, five bars, two ballrooms, as well as a spa and health club. The landmark luxury hotel took the Guinness Book of World Records title from the 1 093 feet Rose Tower, also situated in Dubai.

Each tower has presidential suites, King rooms, twin rooms, rooms fitted specifically for the disabled and corner suites. Guest rooms are equipped with modern technology, including LCD TVs, iPod stations, Wi-Fi and a master room control tablet. The luxury hotel's 8,000 square meters of total event space features two exquisite ballrooms and 32 meeting rooms.

Arne Sorenson, Marriott International President and CEO, said, “Dubai is an important destination for Marriott International as one of the world’s most exciting cities offering world-class facilities and infrastructure, central location in the region and future growth potential. Our expanding collection of world-class JW Marriott hotels offers accomplished travellers a one-of-a-kind luxury experience. The investment in this unique and visually stunning hotel is testament to the continued opportunities that lie ahead for the brand and company.”

Mitzi Gaskins, Vice President and Global Brand Manager for JW Marriott Hotels and Resorts, said, “As our global portfolio continues to grow, we remain dedicated to offering our guests unforgettable travel experiences with intuitive service, thoughtful amenities and refined design, celebrating the authentic flavour of each destination.”
