"ould be most grateful to see more stringent security measures put in place to arrest this hideous crime of pilfering people’s prized possessions ad lib. A few years back we were on what must’ve been the last flight from Durban into OR Tambo as the airport was deserted.

We were kept waiting for 15minutes at the baggage collection conveyor belt. By the time it arrived at 10.30pm, I noticed the cable ties on my vanity bag had been cut and on examination found my valuable, sentimental gold bracelets and chain missing!! We reported the matter to the local police who were able to do absolutely squat!! Instead of patrolling the airport building, they should have been on the tarmac outside!!!

We filled in the relevant forms which resulted in absolutely nothing. Apart from wasting an hour of our time, only reaching our destination eventually at midnight, was the anger and frustration resulting from the violation of trust, privacy and invasion of one’s personal belongings."
