Stonehenge - magical or mundane?

2013-10-17 14:03
Mysterious and majestic, this ancient ring of standing stones in the English country side has been capturing imaginations for millions of moons.

Located 3.2km west of Amesbury and 13km north of Salisbury, Stonehenge is believed to have been built anywhere between 3 000 and 2 000 BC, but the exact reason for existence remains a mystery.

While standing among the massive monoliths must be a rather humbling and amazing experience, the site has experienced such an influx of tourists in the past few decades, that some may argue that the magic has all but disappeared.

We asked our readers, Facebook friends and Twitter followers whether they thought Stonehenge has lost its magic or if it's worth visiting no matter how crowded. This is what they said. What are your thoughts?

Rob Shore - I visited stone henge on mid summers day this year. The place is magical. It oozes aura and certainly had a profound effect on me. It is an awesome place to be at and well worth the £8-50 that i paid to get in.
