TTOT: Luxury Travel

2013-12-17 14:38
Cape Town - What would you consider a travel necessity rather than a luxury? We believe that exploring the world is definitely a necessity and that the time taken to positively absorb your surroundings, essentially provides the feel of luxury.

In today's Travel Talk on Twitter we chatted about "luxury travel" and found that traveling luxuriously doesn’t always mean splurging. Tweeps who participated suggested that when faced with a choice between accommodation, food and activities - the latter was largely an expenditure that would be splurged on luxuriously.

See how the discussion unfolded below.

If you're a keen traveler who likes to share tales, tips and trifles with other wanderers, you should head on over to Twitter every Tuesday for Travel Talk on Twitter, also known as #TTOT.

Taking place every week at 11:30 (SA time), the chat is run by a few of the world's top travel bloggers, such as Travel Dudes, Roni Weiss and Runaway Juno, and aimed at getting travelers from all over the world to sharing their experiences. How it works: A new topic is introduced every week, so to stay in the loop by keeping close tabs on the TTOT Facebook group.

The discussion takes the form of five different questions related to the topic and will be numbered Q1 - Q5, with a couple of minutes for responses to each. In order to respond to a specific question you will start your answer with A1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, of course including #TTOT so you're included in the stream.

Check out the Travel Talk on Twitter Facebook page for updates about upcoming chats. Have a look at some our our favourite answers from today's discussion:

Q1: What's the definition of 'luxury' to you? How do you relate that to travel?

Q2: Where do you like to splurge on luxury? Food, accommodation, activities?

Q3: What's your dream luxury travel experience?

Q4: Is luxury travel on-a-string/luxury backpacking possible? Any tips?

Q5:  What are the little luxuries you take with you when traveling?
