Cape Town – Today’s Travel Talk on Twitter was a topic every traveller could relate to – travel memories.

One cannot deny that the memories made on any travel adventure, are probably the best part about travel.

Best travel memories

The first question probed travellers to delve deep into their memories and recall their favourite travel memory.

Many travellers fell short, saying that it’s pretty impossible to narrow down travel memories because pretty all travels made it into the list of favourites.

There are some however, who could knit-pick, and share some lovely travel memories with the twitterverse

Technology meets memory making

We cannot deny how the advent of social media has played a role in the ways in which we share memories with the world. The Kodak days are slowing slipping away, and we’re now getting more and more familiar with hashtags and retweets. The second question dealt with this as it asked if we think social sharing sites such as Facebook, have changed the way we share our travels. Well, all one needs to think of is the world #selfie and we pretty much have our answer. Here are some of the responses:

Blogging, Facebook and Twitter

The third question “How do you share your travel memories” revealed that most people love blogging their travel experiences. Some have even gone so far as being paid to blog about their travel.

Even with this, some travellers cautioned warning about being too devoted to social media and thus increasing chances to make actual memories.

The last question highlighted the importance of travel in one’s life as it asked: Do you have a travel memory which changed your outlook on life? And there were some pretty deep answers:

All in all, we were reminded not only of how great Tuesdays are, but also that there are millions of people out there who are in love with travelling and exploring the world. Happening every week at 11:30 (SA time), the chat is run by a few of the world's top travel bloggers, such as Travel Dudes, Roni Weiss and Runaway Juno; aimed at getting travellers from all over the world to share their experiences.

How it works: A new topic is introduced every week, so stay in the loop by keeping tabs on the TTOT Facebook group. The discussion is formed of five different questions relative to the topic. Each question is numbered; Q1 - Q5, with a couple of minutes for responses to each. In order to respond to a specific question, begin your answer with A1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, of course including #TTOT so you're included in the stream.
