Cape Town - The City of Cape Town has received confirmation that 26 000 coupons have been collected for Cape Town’s own tribute to the late Nelson Mandela at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday 11 December 2013. The city has advised that there are still coupons available, but on a first come first serve basis. Cape Town Stadium has a capacity of just over 64 000. In order to ensure safe attendance, members of the public are being urged to collect their coupons, maximum of five coupons per person, free of charge, on presentation of a valid driver’s licence, Identity Document or Passport at any Computicket stands, Shoprite, and Shoprite/Checkers outlets across Cape Town.Those who wish to attend the momentous occasion can only do so if they have one of these coupon. The city has asked that only people with coupons make their way to the stadium on Wednesday. Public transportIn addition to entry to the Green Point Stadium event, the coupon will allows free access to public transport into and out of the city from noon onwards, on the MyCiTi bus service, Golden Arrow Bus Services, and Metrorail. There will be a free MyCiTi shuttle service from the Civic Centre to the Cape Town Stadium, and a pedestrian ‘walk of remembrance’ from the Cape Town Station to the Stadium will be activated (the fan walk). The city has advised the use of the free public transport service because roads around the stadium will be closed and it is anticipated that there will be traffic congestion.
