Gauteng - The father of former Griquas' rugby player Brett Tucker has been bitten on the shoulder by a lion at a park near Krugersdorp, The Star reported on Monday.

According to the newspaper, the family was driving through the Lion Park on Saturday, when a lion tried to put its paw through a partly-open window.

When Tucker's father accidentally opened the electric window instead of closing it, the lion reportedly put its head into the car and bit him on the shoulder. He was taken to hospital.

The Star reported that the family had indicated it would not comment, and would consult a lawyer.
