Cape Town -  Drivers brought in to minimise the disruption of the unprotected strike that hit the MyCiti bus service during peak hour times on Wednesday morning have been stopped from doing their duty.

The MyCiti Bus service said on its Facebook page that strikers had barricaded the gates at the depot in Prestwich Street in Green Point, preventing the MyCiTi buses from exiting in order to offer a limited service.
The reason for the strike remains unknown as yet. Police are said to be monitoring the situation.

The City confirmed a limited MyCitibus service would be operational until 21:00 on Wednesday evening and it aimed to resolve the strike before Thursday morning.
