Johannesburg Tourism Company will once again be participating at the Beeld Holiday Show, taking place at Gallagher Convention Centre from 15 - 17 February.

"Beeld Holiday Show is a consumer show which allows consumers (visitors) to view hundreds of holiday destinations and activities under one roof and the Joburg Tourism team will be there, positioning Joburg as Africa's leading business and lifestyle destination, embracing a truly cosmopolitan tourism offering," says Phelisa Mangcu, Acting CEO, Johannesburg Tourism.

"Our diverse and vibrant city, with its full calendar of events and attractions, merits an extended stay, beyond business. Joburg boasts excellent air and transport access, infrastructure, a diverse accommodation offering, along with entertainment, nightlife, retail, arts, culture and heritage. Our presence there will communicate all these aspects, with excellent design and visuals to highlight leisure offerings and activities in Joburg - outdoor, adventure, sports, entertainment and lifestyle," explains Mangcu.

Aside from marketing Joburg as a destination to visitors, Joburg Tourism places great importance on growing tourism awareness in the domestic market, with a special emphasis on local residents, by encouraging them to enjoy exploring their own backyard.

"Joburg boasts layer upon layer of fascinating history - from its ancient past and its mining origins, to its more recent social and politicial history. Added to this is the inner city revitalization which is underway and the constant growth, development and increase in interesting attractions, activities and tourism products," says Mangcu. "A prime example of this is the addition of the unmissable, bright red, City Sightseeing buses to our tourism offering, putting us in the same league as the other 100 cities worldwide, offering a quick, convenient and safe access to many of the city's iconic landmarks and attractions."

It is Johannesburg Tourism's strategy mission to attract visitors to Joburg, encourage them to stay longer, spend more, improve seasonality patterns and the spread of visitors across the city.

Joburg Tourism's ongoing local and international promotional campaigns include exhibiting at business and leisure trade exhibitions where Joburg Tourism shares its plans to maintain, defend and grow its market share. As the City of Johannesburg's destination marketing organisation, Joburg Tourism remains focused on positioning Joburg not only as the continent's leading business hub, but also as an exciting, vibrant year-round destination for signature events, lifestyle, the arts, culture, fashion, sports - not forgetting mega-events.
