Cape Town - Need a little inspiration today?

Well, you need look no further than this amazing video of a paralympian athlete making the most of the ski slopes at Afriski in Lesotho.

Watch the video here

According to Nicola Gerrard from Afriski, Kobus Oeschger, an olympian who represented South Africa at the wheel chair basketball in the 2012 Paralympics visited the resort over the past weekend and didn't let anything hold him back from having fun.

Oeschger has been in a wheelchair for 31 years, after being paralysed in a motorcycle accident when he was 12 years old.

He never, however, let his disability hold him back, managing to get his national colours in four different sports.

So, it hardly comes as a surprise that he felt inspired to try skiing during his stay at Afriski.

After just 1 day of learning how to use the special ski, designed for those who are physically disabled, he was skiing down the intermediate slope like a pro!

According to Afriski the special ski actually belongs to the singer Mathys Roets who is a passionate skier.

He entrusted his ski rig to the resort's ski school for use.

With prior arrangement the ski school can give lessons to one Para skier at a time since they only have the one rig.

Due to the mountain location Afriski is not exactly wheel chair friendly, so this really is an adventure for those up to it.
