Marlimakeup gave Liezel van der Westhuizen an edgy new look for this year's J&B Met. Have a look!WATCH

If you're an extreme sports loving hippophile (google it) with a passion for fashion who happened to be in Cape Town this past weekend, it was probably the most painful exercise in decision-making ever!

The Mother City played host to no less than three huge alternative sports-related events this weekend: the J&B Met at Kenilworth Racecourse, Red Bull King of the Air at Blouberg Beach and the Ultimate-X Games at the Waterfront.

We've rounded up a few pics from each event, take a look.

J&B Met

With a theme like 'Made to Conquer' it's no surprise that this year's J&B Met was a triumphant mix of horse racing, fashion and hobnobbing.

Held at the Kenilworth Racetrack, the event draws thousands of the most hip, happening and hot South Africans sporting some dashing, daring and dapper outfits.

While the actual horses may take a backseat to the fashion and fabulousness, for those who care, a horse called Hill 54 had an unexpected win.

The Gateway Canal at the V&A Waterfront was transformed into an extreme sporting paradise over the weekend, when it played host to a showdown of wakeboarding, BMX-ing and skateboarding.

Apart from drawing huge crowds of adrenaline junkies, the event also saw contestants from around the globe, including Alastair Sayer (FMX), Paul Ryan (BMX), Jordan Elizondo-Darwin (wake) and Moses Adams (skate).

Red Bull King of the Air

Promising to be "bigger and higher than ever before," Red Bull's annual kiteboarding super event took place on Saturday at Eden on the Bay in Blouberg.

Filling the sky with colourful kites, attached to some of the most extreme watersportsman around and the beach with awe-struck onlookers, it's no surprise the event is a highlight on Cape Town's sporting calendar.
