World of Birds needs you

2012-06-21 11:16

Cape Town - World of Birds just outside Hout Bay is the largest bird park in Africa, and one of the largest in the world, housing over 3000 birds or 400 different species. Incredibly enough, this amazing place is entirely reliant on public donations and entry fees to keep their creatures fed and looked after.

Over the past year or two, the park has experienced a steady decline in visitors as the widespread economic downturn hit the tourism industry especially hard, which means that the birds and small animals on the premises have suffered for it.

Cape Town-based advertising agency, Fishgate Advertising saw World of Birds' plight and decided to launch a campaign in the form of a series of posters encouraging Capetonians and visitors to help feed the birds.

The white posters with black writing sported a bird-shaped design consisting entirely out of seed and non-toxic glue and were on display right across the city. Passersby were clearly struck by the message, as they photographed and discussed their thoughts on Twitter.

Visit the World of Birds website for information on how you can help.
