WATCH: On board crash landing plane

A passenger on board a Somali aircraft fell do his death after an explosion minutes into a flight on Tuesday. This is according to a government official consulted by independent radio station Radio Dalsan in the capital, Mogadishu.

The pilot was forced to make an emergency landing just minutes after take-off. Video footage of the event shows wide-eyed passengers wearing gas masks enduring wind as the plane descends.

Daallo Airlines flight D3159 departed from Mogadishu for Djibouti around 11:30 on Tuesday, 2 February. Fifteen minutes later the Airbus was back on the runway with a jagged hole in its fuselage.

Russia Today (RT) reports passengers heard a loud bang and saw flames shortly after take-off. Residents of a village 30 kilometers outside the capital say they found a man’s charred body which may have fallen to earth from the plane. Voice of America (VOA) journalist Harun Maruf says two people were injured and a 60-year-old man was ejected from the plane and killed.
