What you need to know about South Sudan's conflict

Ashley McLaughlin works for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in South Sudan. 

She spoke from Nairobi, Kenya and described the lockdown which followed skirmishes last weekend.

By Monday night, says McLaughlin, shootings had ceased in the capital, Juba.

The IOM provides support to migrants and has an established operation in a city, Wau, in the northern region of South Sudan.

One of McLaughlin's colleagues described gunfire outside a home. She speaks of the fear gripping ordinary people in Africa's youngest country.
