This man is training to run 250kms through Antarctica for Greenpeace

23 September, 11:16 AM

David Barnard is a man on a mission: he's training to run 250kms through Antartica for a good cause. Through Greenpeace, he's hoping to raise R250 000 for the installation of solar energy in an underprivileged South African community.

Barnard told Greenpeace: "Ultimately, going to Antarctica is not just about running in the snow and gale-force winds, but the reward that comes with it. I am dedicating my participation in The Last Desert Race to the work of Greenpeace Africa. Greenpeace is one of the most influential global campaigning organisations working to protect and conserve the environment."

We caught up with Barnard to speak about his preparation for the epic challenge. Watch.
