SA gears up for World Read Aloud Day following poor literacy ranking

Last year, the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) released a report stating that South African children's literacy is the worst among the 50 countries that were part of the study.

Nal'ibali, a network aimed at raising awareness around reading in South Africa, has since 2013 dedicated itself towards providing free reading material, translated in to the country's 11 official languages.
