WATCH: #BlackMonday reaches South African farmers in Kansas

08 November, 11:24 AM

A group of South African farmers, currently harvesting crops in America, decided to show their support for the #BlackMonday initiative.

JW Grimbeek, who filmed this video, says the group wanted to help create awareness around farm murders in South Africa.

The South Africans work for, Chad Olsen, owner of Oslen Custom Farms, a custom harvesting operation in Hendricks, southwestern Minnesota.  Grimbeek told News24 that they are currently away on assignment in Dighton, Kansas.

"Unfortunately no American farmers participated, but many of them saw what we did," he said.

Grimbeek is originally from Potchefstroom and works in America between April and November. He has done so for the past seven years.

The farmers drove in convoy with at least seven trucks, four harvesters and two tractors. The words 'pray for South African farmers' and 'stop murder' was written on the side of the trucks.
