WATCH: Blood-curdling screams as teens film street brawl

15 September, 02:16 PM

RICHARDS BAY - Teenagers witnessed a street brawl in Richards Bay and filmed the horrifying incident on a cell phone camera.

The spar took place in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, 10 September. Days later, no case has been opened and no one has been arrested.

The teen's video includes blood-curdling screams as a motorist runs over man and several others beat each other.

"There's gunshots dude!" blurts out the witness filming the incident before telling his friends they should leave.

An assailant running tackles another man as a car drives into lamppost. The chaotic fight broke out at Tuzi Gazi esplanade in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.

A staff member from a nearby restaurant told News24 she heard gunfire and called her manager, who contacted the police. "The police did come out. They were pretty good."

Rob Hughes, owner of Tuzi Gazi Waterfront, said he was aware of the incident, and presumed those involved were drunk.

"At two o’clock in the morning people are silly. They should not be out."

Hughes said the suspects rushed into their car and drove off when they saw police walking towards them. He added he had been in contact with the police, and investigations were underway.

"As quick as it happened it was over." Police spokesperson Debbie Ferreira told the Zululand Observer no one had laid charges.
