Two Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officers are being investigated after a viral video on social media, showing them "manhandling" a taxi driver. The altercation happened after the officers pulled the driver over. JMPD spokesperson Senior Superintendent Wayne Minnaar could not confirm where and when the incident happened. Video footage shows the taxi driver asking an official why he is grabbing him by the shirt, while passengers question the officers' conduct. They allegedly attempt to help the driver.Minnaar told News24 that he could not comment on the incident until the investigation had been concluded."The video you see on social media warrants an investigation," he said. "We cannot act against the officers, because we don't have all the facts. The officers are being investigated. When we get all the facts, we will release a statement," said Minnaar. He added that anyone who found themselves in a similar situation should call the South African Police Service or JMPD."You can call the metro police on 011 375 5911 and ask for a superintendent in charge."
