WATCH: Cyril Ramaphosa inaugurated as South African president

25 May, 10:41 AM

At least 32 000 members of the public are expected to attend Cyril Ramaphosa's presidential inauguration at Loftus Versfeld in Tshwane on Saturday.

Some 4 500 guests from various sectors of society - including parliamentarians, members of the judiciary, ministers and deputy ministers, premiers, MECs and executive mayors - are also expected to attend.

The programme is expected to start at 10:55 and will be co-directed by former National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete and ANC deputy secretary general Jessie Duarte. After Ramaphosa has taken the Oath of Office as part of the swearing in ceremony performed by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, Ramaphosa will take up a position for the national salute. He will then address the nation, which will be followed by fly past of the South African Air Force and SAA, as well as a 21-gun salute.
