Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi held a media briefing last week where he gave updates on developments in the case surrounding Mpianzi's death.

He said the probe into the teen's death was "well under way".

The memorial service will take place at Parktown Boys' High in Johannesburg and Lesufi is expected to pay tribute to the pupil.

News24 previously misspelt Mpianzi's first name as "Enoch", based on information provided by members of the family and the education department. It has since been established that the correct spelling is "Enock".
