WATCH | Police whistleblower Dhanajaya Naidoo continues state capture testimony

01 October, 10:22 AM

Former Crime Intelligence official Dhanajaya Naidoo is expected to continue testifying before the state capture commission of inquiry on Tuesday.

Naidoo - who now goes by another name and is in witness protection - is expected to testify in camera (behind closed doors) at a secret location.

On Monday, Naidoo told the commission that Crime Intelligence paid several journalists, including Sunday Times associate editor Ranjeni Munusamy.

"My belief [is] that journalists were being used by Crime Intelligence to plant stories in the media, I have knowledge of three instances where journalists were paid or used by Crime Intelligence," Naidoo told the inquiry on Monday.

Following the explosive allegations, Munusamy submitted to the commission that the allegations against her were an attempt to destroy her credibility.

In a supporting affidavit to the commission, which News24 has seen, she said she was "utterly horrified by the allegations that I have been paid from the [secret service account]. These allegations are entirely baseless and false."
