WATCH | State capture inquiry continues to hear SAA-related testimony

06 February, 11:54 AM

The judicial commission of inquiry into state capture will on Thursday continue to hear South African Airways-related testimony from the acting head of supply chain management, Schalk Hendrik Human.

Earlier this week, former SAA chairperson Vuyisile Kona testified that he was offered a R500 000 bribe by Tony Gupta at the family's Saxonwold home in late October 2012. He refused the money.

He said that, in late October 2012, the struggling airline had been in a state of flux. Its CEO and many of its board members had recently resigned, and he was overseeing the work of creating a turnaround plan to be presented to National Treasury.

The commission also heard testimony from the founding member and a director of SRS Aviation, Sibongile Rejoice Sambo.

It was reported that Sambo had told Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo that she suffered from depression, which impaired her ability to recall the sequence of events accurately, but that she would try to piece it together.
