WATCH LIVE: Transnet and Waterkloof landing in spotlight at state capture inquiry

11 July, 12:45 PM

Former Transnet electrical engineer, Francis Callard, resumed his testimony at the state capture commission of inquiry on Thursday.

In addition, Major Thabo Ntshisi is expected to continue his testimony later on Thursday on the controversial 2013 Gupta Waterkloof landing. Ntshisi was the command post officer at the landing.

The commission has been investigating allegations of state capture, corruption and fraud since August 2018.

On Wednesday, the commission heard evidence from Helen Walsh, the acting general manager for governance, risk and compliance in the state-run freight rail company's finance department.

Transnet has to date spent R42.5bn on 1 259 new locomotives meant to upgrade its ageing fleet, some R3.9bn more than it originally budgeted for, the commission has heard.
