WATCH LIVE: Transnet in the spotlight at state capture inquiry

06 May, 11:11 AM

The judicial commission of inquiry into allegations of state capture resumed on Monday, with the spotlight shifting to Transnet.

Head of the commission's legal team, advocate Paul Pretorius, SC, is expected to give an opening statement and put Transnet-related documents on record.

On Friday, former KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Johan Booysen wrapped up his testimony. He testified that Duduzane Zuma, the son of former president Jacob Zuma, drove him to the Gupta family home in a Rolls Royce.

He also told inquiry chairperson, Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, that they were asked to hand over their phones when they entered the house and were introduced to Rajesh "Tony" Gupta. The inquiry heard that the meeting took place on August 16, 2015.

Booysen said Tony Gupta brought up the fact that he had been shortlisted as a candidate to head up the Hawks.
