WATCH: Penny Sparrow called these beachgoers 'monkeys'

KZN's Penny Sparrow started a heated race debate in South Africa when she referred to black beachgoers in Durban as "monkeys".

eNCA's Yusuf Omar was on the Durban beachfront on New Year's Day. He joined revellers in the water and on the sand. Take a look at the experience, documented by Omar in the video above.

In an interview with News24, Sparrow said: "Every year it is the same story; it’s their [black people] day and we don’t go in the beach, we don’t interfere, we let it be. We all know it and there is nothing wrong. We stay out of the way and stay at home.
