WATCH: SA world record holders thought they were going to die at sea

South African couple Riaan and Vasti Manser broke the world record for the fastest time rowing from California to Hawaii. Watch the pair tell us about why they thought they were going to die on the Pacific ocean.

Vasti tells us, when they left for their adventure in July, the Pacific had the most tropical storms in history. Early on in the trip the couple decided to continue on their journey, despite Riaan splitting his head open.

Riaan and Vasti took on this trip for their honeymoon, despite having the adventure of a lifetime, they both say they wouldn't do it again. Watch.

The newlyweds now hold the world record for the fastest open class pair to row the Mid-Pacific East to West route; and the Ocean Rowing Society record for first South Africans to row any Pacific route.

What's next for these two? They say they're ready to take on the greatest adventure of all, and have kids!
