06 November, 05:53 PM

Netcare 911 and the South African Air Force’s (SAAF) 15 Squadron held their annual refresher training session in Durban last week.

The aviation training component on Friday was part of a week-long effort to hone the skills of Netcare’s Durban and Johannesburg rescue technicians.

"The SA Air Force, especially 15 Squadron, has really come to the party by participating in this training session," Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst told News24.

According to Herbst, four rescue technicians and up to 15 SAAF air crew participated on the day.

The rescue technicians and air crews practised their skills in mountain, building and maritime rescues during this one-day operation.

The South African Airforce provided the Oryx and Agusta A109 helicopters based at Airforce Base (AFB) Durban.
