Thousands of people navigate the busy streets of Cape Town every day, yet very few know about the mysterious world beneath them. 

In the first part of a new series exploring hidden and forgotten places, News24 takes you underground into a network of tunnels under the city.

Tour guide Matt Weisse, one of the few people who has explored the 20km of tunnels, explains their origins and purpose over the centuries.
