WATCH: Soweto residents stand up against women abuse

Concerned citizens gathered outside the University of Johannesburg Soweto campus to stand up against gender-based violence in South Africa on Friday morning.

The #NotInMyName highlights the scourge of violence against women and children. The purpose of the march is to enhance existing policies on gender-based violence in South Africa.  

Minister of Women Susan Shabangu and singer Buhle Mda were among the people marching.

The march is expected to proceed from the UJ Soweto campus to Regina Mundi Church in Rockville.
