WATCH | State capture commission resumes after week of explosive testimony

23 September, 03:48 PM

The judicial commission of inquiry into state capture has resumed at 14:00 on Monday to hear an application - this after a week of explosive testimony by senior Hawks investigator Colonel Kobus Roelofse.

On Wednesday, Roelofse gave evidence at the commission linking Tiso Blackstar senior journalist Ranjeni Munusamy to a secret Crime Intelligence slush fund.

He alleged that payments to Munusamy were discovered while investigating claims of corruption between Crime Intelligence officers and Centurion-based Atlantis Motors.

The Sunday Times said that it would withdraw her column in last weekend's edition of the newspaper. The publication said that it learnt of the allegations last week when Munusamy was informed by the Zondo commission that she was to be implicated in testimony before it.

Munusamy has denied the allegations.

Roelofse also implicated former Crime Intelligence boss Richard Mdluli.

He told the commission that Mdluli had abused and looted the secret service account. Roelofse said Mdluli spent money from the account for security upgrades, overseas trips and various vehicles.
