Police have opened a case of reckless and negligent driving after a truck driver lost control and crashed into about 20 cars parked at Flanders Mall in Mount Edgecombe, KwaZulu-Natal, on Thursday evening.

CCTV footage of the incident showed the truck veering off the M41 and colliding into multiple vehicles in the parking lot of the mall.

"The driver of the truck sustained injuries and was taken to hospital," said police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst, two other people also sustained minor injuries.

"All the patients were treated on scene and transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment," Herbst said in a statement.
