300 dogs saved from cooking pots

2012-10-02 09:04

Bangkok - Thai officials seized a shipment of about 300 dogs destined for cooking pots near the border with Laos, reports said on Tuesday.

Four pickup trucks carrying dogs in cages were stopped in Mukdahan, about 500km northeast of Bangkok, the Bangkok Post reported.

Dealing in dog meat is a long-established trade along Thailand's north-east bordering Laos, a relatively short trip to Vietnam where most of it is sold.

Dogs destined for Vietnam can fetch between 500 and 1 000 baht ($17 to $34) a head in Thailand, where the populace is generally averse to eating dog meat.

There are cats bothering me at home, if anyone is interested (has good taste for cat meat) he can come and hunt them at my place for free.

You cretinous intellectual dwarf. These are the friends of man. This is the very definition of barbarism. Frankly, I hope entire communities there perish. Next you're going to call it culture. You'd better pray you don't accidentally cross my path.

Not to judge other culture's tastes, but, imagine holding a cleaver or knife over a pomeranian while it's looking at you with those big black eyes. I think I'd die right there...

Quite so. The thing is, culture has nothing to do with it. Culture is, inter alia, a way of behaving. Not misbehaving. Culture is often used as an excuse for doing outrageous things. I have no patience for this. But then, I am not a "human worshipper".
