18 feared trapped after Russia mine blast

Moscow - Eighteen miners are feared to be trapped under rubble after an explosion on Monday at their mine in the Komi region in Russia's Far North, the emergencies ministry said.

Twenty-two miners were working underground when the explosion went off at the Vorkutinskaya mine. Four of them made it back to the surface but 18 are feared to be trapped, emergencies ministry spokesperson Elena Smirnykh told AFP.
