New York - Kofi Annan is quitting as UN-Arab League peace envoy for Syria, UN leader Ban Ki-moon announced on Thursday, as the civil war spiralled further out of control.

Ban announced "with deep regret" the resignation of Annan, who was named to the post on February 23.

What chance did powder puff Kofi Annan ever think he could have had in trying to broker a deal with a thug like Bashar Assad. Kofi Annan has to go down in history as one of the most benign UN leaders of all timeā€¦!

It was "mission Impossible" without Tom Cruise!!!

Patrick's immature anti-West core belief again. Everything comes down to one immature idea: the West is evil.

ANYONE, who believes he can negotiate with a DICTATOR/TERRORIST has rocks in his head, There is only ONE way to get peace in Syria; Get rid of these assad DOGS !! Dead or alive !!

Is the situation that hopeless, or manipulated?

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-08-02 19:39

      By who?

  • magomarele - 2012-08-02 17:54

I would also quit. The poor old man did his best to bring the waring factions together, but the idiots kept slaughtering each other like cockroaches. We all know what solution is: Assad must go. He over-stayed his welcome and his people don't want him anymore.

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-08-02 18:48

Patrick's immature anti-West belief unwittingly leads him to undermine Syrians trying to free themselves from decades of oppression at the hands of unelected dictators.

leave this people alone so they can enjoy killing each other and destroy the country till there's nothing left of it....common sense should prevail here,,,

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-08-02 18:49

No offense, that's not common sense. That's irresponsibility and heartlessness. Is this what you would have wanted to world to do during Apartheid?

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-08-02 19:41

If he has a weak Ego, he would feel offended when he's not being offended. This too is not an insult. It's a description of fact.

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-08-02 19:47

There are any number of legitimate reasons for having a weak Ego. And any number of ways of healing and strengthening such.

Mr Annan never had a chance because peace was/is the last thing that those egging on these terrorists have on their minds. It is only Russia and China that have tried to broker a genuine peace in Syria. Western warmongers and their lackeys only want power through regime change, irrespective of how many ordinary Syrians perish in the way. It is an irony that his title was "Peace Envoy". Who was he supposed to facilitate to broker peace with, as these terrorists have never sought peace even after Russia made it clear that Assad's government was willing to negotiate with these armed thugs.

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-08-02 19:45

Fidel, with his highly immature and obsessive anti-West core belief that distorts reality, believes the neo-Soviet Russian regime led by an ex-KGB officer, will bring democracy to the Middle East, democracy that it doesn't itself have. He unwittingly supports raw oppression and autocracy without knowing it. He has effectively blinded himself.

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-08-02 20:04

The silly and inmature stance of this Fidel and Patrick become so clear, when one realizes, that we have here two Africans, who come from a country that was oppressed by a minority regime for so many years. No doubt, both suffered during the years of tyranny. One would expect that they would embrace ANYONE in this world who has suffered, simular treatment, but NO, their SIILY CHILDISH HATRED, is to such extend, that they are prepared to let these assad thugs continue treating the opposition as rubbish, and prepared to KILL them !! Shame on both of you !!!!

      joseph.motloung.3 - 2012-08-03 12:21

@AnthonyfromAfrica You say that as Africans we have suffered under minority rule for centuries. Now i ask you who was aiding the hand of those who were oprressing us? Who were those who colonised and mass murdered Africans on African soil? The simple answer is that it was the Europeans and the Americans. Today they are supporting terrorists and they labell them as Activists They are exporting terrorists from all over the world to go fight and cause havoc in Syria. @fred.fraser12 You labell every1 who criticises the crimes of the west as immature. So I suppose in you'r view the matture thing to do is to cheer on while the west quench their thirst for blood on the lives of innocent civillians. The TRUTH of the matter is the was a referandum in Syria on a new constitution the outcomes showed that the Syrian people support president Assad. The was a survey conducted by Qatar which showed that more than 50% of the Syrian peopl support president Assad. Its been revealed that up to 4o% of the terrorists fighting the Assad regime are not Syrians. Recently they leaked a video online showing how they killed a supporter of the regime and they were cellebrating that. There was no condenmnation from your Godfathers the west.
