Sydney - A Malaysian man has appeared in court on drug charges after police found 90kg of crystal meth in his home, the seventh-largest "ice" haul in Australian history.

Kok Loong Wong appeared in a Sydney court on Wednesday charged with possessing the ice and dealing in the proceeds of crime. He was not granted bail and will appear in court again on February 16.

Police said the drug would have netted an estimated AU$14.4m on the street.

Police said 35-year-old Wong was a "significant player" in a distribution network. They found the drugs after detaining Wong and finding cash and ice inside mobile phone boxes he was carrying.

A search of his home led to the stash of drugs inside four suitcases.
