Oslo - Police say two skiers have been killed by an avalanche near Tromsoe in northern Norway.

Tromsoe Police operations leader Roy Tore Meyer says the victims were in their late 40s.

Meyer says rescuers found the men buried under snow more than two hours after they were hit by the avalanche while skiing off the main trails on the mountainous island of Kvaloeya on Saturday.

A third skier received minor injuries and a fourth escaped unharmed. All were Norwegians.
