Bin Laden went down firing: US official

2011-05-02 21:43

Washington - A US official says Osama bin Laden went down firing at the Navy Seals who stormed his compound.

An official familiar with the operation says bin Laden was hit by a barrage of carefully aimed return fire.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because aspects of the operation remain classified.

The official says two dozen Seals in night-vision goggles dropped into the high-walled compound in Pakistan by sliding down ropes from Chinook helicopters in the overnight raid.

US officials say bin Laden was killed near the end of the 40-minute raid.

The Seals retrieved bin Laden's body and turned the remaining detainees over to Pakistani authorities.

Operation remains classified yet so much detail, lol !!

  • slg - 2011-05-02 21:55

These guys are good, really good. Thank heavens we have them.

      Brendon - 2011-05-02 22:17

Bin Laden has been dead for nearly ten years already, this is just plain electioneering after the fake Obama birth certificate and the killing of Gaddaffi's children. The sheeple of USA need something to rejoice about. You will see a false flag operation coming out of this very soon. I mean hell, Obama announced the death of Bin Laden before the DNA results and now his body has been very quickly disposed of into the ocean. This stinks really baaaad. And to all the sheep, baaaa on.

      Valis - 2011-05-02 22:29

Well then, let's hope that they come for you one night, you sicko. All your posts glorifying in death and violence make you not fit to be called human. You are one sick puppy.

      Gatvol - 2011-05-02 22:38

Lot's of conspiracy theories doing the rounds. I don't think that your average American are so narrow minded as to credit Obama for that with the next elections, it was a successful conclusion of a Navy Seal operation, and that is it.

      matthew.mcnulty - 2011-05-02 23:26

@Brendon, why did Bush not use this information before getting elected for his second term? Oh yes, there is that video of him just before the election alive and well. I believe it is ironically yourself who is the sheep here, being lead astray by your own bizarre conspiracies... I pity you.

      slg - 2011-05-03 02:40

Valis, you're in a small group of bloggers here who have weird and ultimately irrelevant ideas of how the world works.

      slg - 2011-05-03 02:41

You too Brendon. Geez, I've never read such rubbish. Is this going around in your brain? You'll have a short-circuit soon.

      Darkwing - 2011-05-03 03:16

Haha, SLG. You are trolling every critical comment made, saying people don't have a grip on reality. Yet you seem to think that "bipartisan support for deficit reduction" is enough to solve America's debt problem. Here's a news flash: America is almost at the point where if it cut ALL spending it would still not cover the deficit, discretionary spending is far lower than the deficit already. The only person who needs a reality check here is you.

      C S - 2011-05-03 11:57

@Brendon .... this drinking habit of yours at this time of the morning AND at work nogal.. will get you into trouble .... I have a number for the AA if you need it ... and I didnt mean the Automobile Association

      Yoni - 2011-05-03 22:09

I tend to agree with Brendon. How is it possible that the world's most recognisable person could evade the Yanks, with all their technology, intelligence networks and a $25m reward - for TEN years? It is just not possible. Interesting that the whole operation was carefully carried out only after the dust of the Royal Wedding settled. They were probably worried that the latter might've overshadowed the Osama story. Also, Wills' honeymoon plans was all of a sudden put on ice due to a "security concern". What a coincidence...

      mario - 2011-05-04 09:53

How many of them were Americans in the world trade center....if he was unharmed why not capture him let him be judged by Islamics so the world and America can stop stereotyping them as buch of kamakazi terrorist rag heads, and then he could've been stoned in public with the rubble at ground zero, or a Christmas Gammon by the survivors and the families of 9/11. Not this 007 type retribution, I have heard of better hectic armed hijackings that were handled with more finesse, and all parties came out unarmed. This was done in such a way just to silence him, to off him, but now they've created a Ché Guevara type martyr for certain people. So America you've silenced/assasinated a monster, for your top secret reasons, but he haunting you now, GOOD JOB!!! WELL DONE!!! WHAT ARE YOU HIDING USA!!!!

  • Matt - 2011-05-02 21:56

USA will be thinking the good old victory days are back. Fact is - you broke and the house and job market are crashing...Just a little reality check!

      WIZZ - 2011-05-02 22:48

bet you wish you had your greencard tho matt

      Matt - 2011-05-02 23:10

maybe 15 years ago but now the USA is a different place for sure

  • tommy 2 - 2011-05-02 21:57

basicaly he went out in the blaze of glory. This action will let his group, remember him for generations to come. The movement that was started will never stop, because people will remember the way they leader went out. The media should stop reporting on this subject,as they are creating people around the globe that will want to better Bin Laden. The world has not stopped spinning because of his death.

  • Enigma - 2011-05-02 21:58

US officials probably got all their classified info from CNN.

      The Wasp - 2011-05-02 22:07

haha CNN is where all top secret missions get declassified. seems this one they will make a movie out of soon. Im sure there was a CNN / CIA camera man next to the SEAL soldier

  • v3 - 2011-05-02 21:58

One helicopter was hit by a grenade - fired by who? Reports do not mention his guards (where they killed, defeated, ran away?).

      The Wasp - 2011-05-02 22:08

the one US helicopter probably shot down the other US helcopter knowing the Americans

      Gatvol - 2011-05-02 22:43

The Seals retrieved bin Laden's body and turned the remaining detainees over to Pakistani authorities. Copied from the text above

  • The Wasp - 2011-05-02 22:05

I can imagine see this tall old bearded man going down, shooting from the hip, like the wild West, Hollywood Style. What utter rubbish, if the Americans wanted to find him or he still existed , this would have happened years back. 10 years? what is he a hide and seek ex pro??

      slg - 2011-05-03 02:37

  • Deset Rat - 2011-05-02 22:19

Yeh, what a wopper. I bet Osama was like jelly. Living in a Palace were 90% of the population live in squalor? Another conman bites the dust. I wonder who the next conman from El Qwivver bites the dust?

  • Robert - 2011-05-02 22:32

Yep he is still alive, we both syizzing the bitches on Bondi have a game sandwich. He says you folks are awesome.

      slg - 2011-05-03 02:44

      Come again?

  • Howzitekse - 2011-05-02 22:42

Bin Laden's body is like the Weapons of Mass Distruction. Nowhere to be found.

      SaintBruce - 2011-05-03 10:27

Think about why the Yanks dropped his body into the ocean? They don't want to have it found or a shrine erected for followers to gather at ( not bad idea to nab more of them anyway) or to dig it up and parade it for political / religious uses ...and then build a shrine anyway. While I cannot condone the killing of anyone personally, I have to say that the Radical Islam Bin Laden supported did not die with him. His organised terror system is a many headed hydra. One head off does not stop the blood thirsty serpent much at all. It's all very symbolic and good for political spin doctoring and not much else.

  • braveinternetguy - 2011-05-02 23:04

Amazing how life imitates art sometimes. This whole thing sounds almost like the plot of a Hollywood action movie. Just amazing.

  • chaminuka - 2011-05-02 23:17

Well done USA! Osama"s victims can now rest in peace. The world is safer by one down.

  • - 2011-05-02 23:23

  • Huck_Finn - 2011-05-03 00:21

Well I hope you crapped yourself for the entire 40 minutes Osama and you used a woman as a shield, how manly was that! Those people in the twin towers took longer and suffered a whole worse than you did. May you be blessed with the souls of pigs as companions wherever your soul landed up!!

  • Marcell - 2011-05-03 04:53

Why do people tend to believe the Americans although they know there history of bullshite and cover-ups?

      Jem Atkins - 2011-05-03 09:57

I hear you, Marcell. This all seems a bit suspicious tbh. the timing - right before elections, the fact that they couldnt find him for 10 years...until now???; the fact that they killed him outright with "carefully aimed RETURN fire", the fact that the body has ALREADY been 'disposed of; And anyway, this is a spit in the ocean - it'll make no difference to the "War on Terrorism" because they have martyred Osama, and there are many to take his place. *sigh*. Taking him ALIVE should have been the ONLY course of action. Oh well.

      Paco7 - 2011-05-03 10:35

Marcell u are a man with a brain and u not afraid to use it

      Tanweer - 2011-05-03 11:25

food for thought Marcell, this is on everyones mind including those that are claiming to believe it , there is no truth that comes out from these americans . there own army personel disclossed there wrong doings

  • Effel - 2011-05-03 05:15

Viva USA!! Kill the terrorists kill the rubbish! Can Mugabe be next

  • Boxertronic - 2011-05-03 09:37

@yankee : The biggest bully doesnt make the greatest country !!!! The world would be a better place without America . In fact there would be no terrorism without the yank ! Viva world without yanks VIVA !!!!

      mike - 2011-05-03 09:59

in fact ther would be less morons without you. Viva the world without boxertronic viva

      Tanweer - 2011-05-03 11:31

mike you are so stupid look at the broader picture ? its true without the americans causing all the trouble there would be no blood shed no terror no reactions

      mike - 2011-05-03 11:45

Tanweer, you obviously are the stupid one - are you seriously suggesting that the yanks cause all the trouble in the world? if so you are one serious dikhead

      Grunk - 2011-05-03 11:58

I think we all should be aware that History is always written by the victor - and I suggest that all and sundry investigate the historical or present "truths" as trumpeted by the various forms of American media be fully investigated by the individual before accepting anything as correctly reflecting the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

  • Boxertronic - 2011-05-03 10:42

Why don't you start a war about it Mike !!!! Americans cant even identify where Iraq is on a map . Nation of retards !!

      mike - 2011-05-03 11:47

you are the person starting wars about it - not me. If the yanks cant even identify where Iraq is then obviously they cannot be there , so what is the problem then?

      nic69ers - 2011-05-03 16:35

agreed a nation of goddam fat retards!!

  • taline - 2011-05-03 10:50

lies, lies and more US lies where is his body....what a propaganda even a fool will know this is utter nonsense, three weeks ago an official of Pakistan said Osama has died of natural cause and I THINK that is what really transpired here but the US regime wants to be seen as heros in this one , I just hope that Al Qaeda will make a stastement to this effect so that we can know the truth.

  • knfie - 2011-05-03 10:53

  • Tawriq - 2011-05-03 11:20

i smell a block buster movie in the making dont u think?

  • Hlasel_amafutha - 2011-05-03 11:52

Anything that Tony Blair is involved in, has GOT to be a lie.

  • Mj - 2011-05-03 12:54

It sounds like hype. OBL "compound" appears to be in a secure peaceful suburban area. If the Seals raid it by surprise it would be easier to capture him as they would be relaxed.

      DILLIGAS - 2011-05-03 15:19

Oh FFS....Mj, have you ever been to Pakistan let alone a small city in the lawless North of the country? No I didn't think so as if you had you would not be so dumb as to make the comments you have...The "compound" has an 18 foot high wall around it with armed guards patroling, just like in most peaceful suburban areas? Please tell me you are not yet at breeding age because you would just pollute the gene pool!

  • Looking@SA - 2011-05-03 13:14

To Jem Atkins: The elections are in November 2012 18 months from now.

  • Alex Millne - 2011-05-03 13:45

Oh my gosh!!!!! Thats awful news! :( My heart goes out to the bin Laden Family! May he rest in peace! I feel for Osama bin Laden. He was just a confused man and he is also just human. I think that's terrible how he died :*( I pray that he'll find some peace. He had a hard life and at least now he can rest in the Lords arms.....God bless, R.I.P OSAMA BIN LADEN. :*( :*( xxxx xxx xxx KISS'S

  • nic69ers - 2011-05-03 16:27

@ Brendon - Baaaaa!! i mean i agree 100% haha!! Americans blindly follow and just recently his supporters votes were down. Now all of a sudden he is the most favoured guy to lead america!! You americans are pathetic! like Brendon said Baaaa on u clowns

  • JohannV - 2011-05-03 18:53

Let's be clear on this: OBAMA did NOT kill Bin Laden. An American soldier, who Obama just a few weeks ago was debating on whether or not to PAY, did. Obama just happened to be the one in office when our soldiers finally found Osama Bin Laden and took him out. This is NOT an Obama victory, but an AMERICAN victory!!

  • Wayne - 2011-05-03 19:07

    Bin Fucked.

  • Alex Millne - 2011-05-03 19:10

Just because I'm a Christian doesn't mean that I hate Muslims. In a way I can understand OSAMA BIN LADIN,.. I can understand the passion he had for his religion, he loved his religion so much that he even shed blood for his religion. That is a LOVE THAT NO ONE HERE CAN EVER IMAGINE to get close to. Although I differ, because I am a Christian, I do wish I had the courage to LIVE my faith out as STRONGLY AS HE LIVED HIS!!! A true Role-Model, that would do anything for his beliefs. He inspired so many, but at the same time he has caused so much suffering :*( But I forgive him because I know he is a beautiful loving soul. May jesus wash him in the name of god. You will always be in my thoughts, R.I.P OSAMA BIN LADIN !!!!!!

  • USAMAH - 2011-05-03 19:44

Obviously he went down firing!!!What was he supposed to do when he saw 5 helicopter gunships bombarding him? Stand around and say cheese? Obviously the 'US navy seals'(like the rest of the cowardly US armed forces who kill using remote controlled aircraft because they are too frightened to fight fair battles) would have never approached him on their own.If they have killed him , which is as yet not proven, then it is worth mentioning that he took down a helicopter first and as usual the US lied , saying the darned thing malfuntioned. The Americans are just one big joke and a bunch of deceiving liars.

  • za101 - 2011-05-03 22:36

    another lie. white house confirmed

      USAMAH - 2011-05-03 23:03

Yep,you're right. White House just confirmed another of their white lies. He did not have a firefight with them as he was UNARMED!!!Don't these bloodthirsty, lying Americans just sicken us all?
