Black men are people too: posters plea with US cops

2014-08-19 14:26
Cape Town - Protesters have taken to the streets with expressive posters in the Missouri town of Ferguson, after the fatal shooting of a black teenager by a white policeman.

In scenes reminiscent of the 1950's and 60's US civil rights movement protesters brandished posters like "Don't shoot, black men are people too" and "Black lives matter".

The situation in Ferguson has escalated as police fired on a crowd of protesters close to where the 18-year-old was shot at least six times, including twice in the head.
