Boston bombs loaded with shrapnel, nails

2013-04-16 18:36

Washington - A person briefed on the Boston Marathon investigation says the explosives were in 6-litre pressure cookers and placed in black duffel bags.

The person says the explosives were placed on the ground and contained shards of metal, nails and ball bearings.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation was continuing.

The person says law enforcement officials have some of the bomb components but did not yet know what was used to set off the explosives.

President Barack Obama said on Tuesday the bombings were an act of terrorism but investigators do not know if they were carried out by an international or domestic organisation, or perhaps by a "malevolent individual".

Pres. Obama shouldn't leave Korea out of the equation. It isn't nice to say this but this could mean that a war is breaking out. From a South African perspective!

      JeanneB - 2013-04-16 19:11

Somehow, I don't see Korea waging war with the use of pressure cookers filled with shrapnel. How about we hold our breaths and wait for the facts...

Vox you are as bad as a Democrat American going onto Fox News and expecting to hear wonderful stories about Obama. Go and read the stories on Al Jazeerah if you want a pro-Muslim slant to things. News24 is biased just like any media publication.

      Caine Abel - 2013-04-16 21:06

I say find the bombers, in any country for that matter, and punish them with their families and extended families and in doing that the family members will rat out these rodents that dont deserve to breath the air we breath

  • Theodor Herzl - 2013-04-16 19:11

Fact- Muslims terries love to pack explosive with metal, nails and ball bearings...ask the Israelis. The public is not ignorent concerning who the bombers are, they are probably American muslims, trained in Iran, Pakistan or any other muslim country.

      Stephen Haynes - 2013-04-16 19:34

TH you are a sh*tstirrer! You try to blame the bombs on the Muslim population with your "Fact..." and your "probably...". Bombs packed with nails etc have been used by EVERYONE since the invention of gunpowder; you cannot assume the Boston bombs were planted by Muslims. Secondly, why do you say that the bombers are 'probably American muslims'?? Probably? As of now there is ZERO EVIDENCE (zilch!) to back up that assumption.

      Avremel Niselow - 2013-04-16 19:49

Stephen actually the main suspect at present is a Saudi.

      MJ - 2013-04-16 19:52

Blaming it on Muslims is a very broad stroke of lunacy. The people you are reffering to are called 'extremists', people who cowardly hide behind a religion or cause and exploit it for their own means. Extremists come from all walks of life, so do not blame an entire population or religious group for the acts of a small minority of nutters.

      Theodor Herzl - 2013-04-16 20:35

MJ I said muslim terries, meaning I was specific. BY the way, Islam is not a religion, it's a way of life, being FORCED down freedom loving nations throats. Political correctness is a lazy disease.

      Fidel Chavista - 2013-04-16 20:35

The Israelis have to deal with this type of thing all the time. The US needs to send them larger amounts of aid. You've made your point Theoder Herzl!

      delish7564 - 2013-04-16 21:14

Theodor, it's also what the IRA used against Britain...that was their modus operandi causing maximum damage :(. Not that I'm suggesting the Irish would do anything like this against their American friends!

      Pam Seymour - 2013-04-16 21:48

@Theodor Herzl - and the us/zionist terror groups like to do it from 30000ft. whats you're point?

Is it possible that the media feed us what they want us to hear not what we want to hear? Is it possible that DA AND ANC ARE ACTUAL FRIENDS IN THE INSIDE BUT ENEMIES IN PUBLIC EYE? Is it a possibility that the very apartheid was planned, both the top ANC MEMBERS THEN BEING FRIENDS WITH THE TOP NATION PARTY MEMBERS? A Freemason --slogan--is Ordo Ab Chao--meaning order out of chaos, creating chaos to get order...mmmm it may be hard but can be possible, highly so but then do your research.

Fellow South Africans, a new order, a New World Order emerge---is not just something conspiracy theorist talk about, actually what they tell is just a nutshell---the bible talks about the coming new world order in such a detail, the main issue is about worship--the final strugle between good and evil, Creator worship versus creature worship...and the power 4 this world odr wld be catholicism, not capitalism and capitalism seem to work with catholicism to bring down communism, remember the soviet union?...

      charles.alfonso.7 - 2013-04-16 20:23

Not so sure the Catholics had anything to do with bringing down communism in Russia? I think it had more to do with the failure of communism as a financial model that resulted in its demise. What is creator worship versus creator worship? You are really smoking something very harmful to your brain my friend. It appears to be a little fried. And who in his right mind gives a thumbs up to this giberish.

      Tlhologelo K. Magolela-Mampuru - 2013-04-16 20:36

Hey Charles, the catholics are fine but check out its system and how heavily the pope was involved... By the way,the Creator is God,and creature there is the dragon, that old serpent called the devil and satan who deceiveth the whole world...and look you better do a heavy research on this the way catholicism will champion the new order...protestant America will give power to the pope.i know not when but sure it will happen.

      Tlhologelo K. Magolela-Mampuru - 2013-04-16 20:41

...And by UN GENERAL SECRETARY didn't say the pope is a religious leader for that time, when church and state will reunite, you who will be following God's truth and not them just be sure of persecution.

  • Sean Potgieter - 2013-04-16 19:42

Wow, filling a bomb with nails and shrapnel that serve no other purpose but to seriously maim survivors is very, very sick. Clearly the work of a deranged person.

      Johan du Toit - 2013-04-16 21:01

Sean, all bombs are manufactured that way to cause maximum damage. The bombs the USA dropped on Iraq and elsewhere are made exactly the same. In fact it is worse because they use depleted uranium which is more dense than steel. Google "depleted uranium munitions", or see:

BANKER: David Rockefeller Sept. 23, 1994 This present window of opportunity, during which a truly peaceful and interdependent world order might be built, will not be open for too long — We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order. Sounds like an admission of guilt to September 11, 2001 and the other events after 1994!

This is actually what they learned from how the struggle in our own country happened. People tend to see only one side that suites them much more serious acts were done by our own freedom fighters. McBride, lets not go to Madibas role. lets learn from this.

      PamelaStone - 2013-04-16 20:45

Well obviously SOME media is showing it because how did you find out? Don't you get it? It's out there if you want to read it. Don't come onto news24 and expect everything about the Muslim world to be reported on. America has the money to put into media, good for them, they built a wealthy nation. No-one is stopping the Islamic countries building media empires and telling their stories. But it seems they are more interested in lavishing Lambo's on police cops and flashing bling than trying to create a positive PR image.

I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with.
