Britain urges push on Middle East peace

2012-11-25 18:47

London - British Foreign Secretary William Hague urged the United States on Sunday to take a "decisive lead" on reviving the Middle East peace process following the deadly conflict in Gaza.

Following President Barack Obama's re-election this month, "we do look to the United States to give a decisive lead in the coming months," Hague told BBC television, adding: "They have crucial leverage with Israel that no other country has.

"It is time for a huge effort on the Middle East peace process," he said.

European and Arab nations should also offer active support "to make sure that this last chance -- we're coming to a final chance maybe for a two-state solution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict -- can be successfully resolved", he said.

Hague expressed hope that some good could come out of the eight days of violence in and around Gaza, which left 166 Palestinians and six Israelis dead, in the form of discussions about opening up the borders of the impoverished Palestinian territory.

"If it's now possible to move to the opening up of the access in and out of Gaza and stopping the smuggling of weapons into Gaza then some good could actually come of that awful crisis and terrible casualties," he said.

It was Britain that sold Palastineans after world war 2 to the occupiers therefore the peace was provocked theday Britain handed over its former colony to new colonisers.

Jerusalem is the historical capital of the Jewish people & the State of Israel. The Bible refers to Jerusalem (667) and Zion 850 times. It is not mentioned a single time in the Koran, nor is it even mentioned in the PLO Charter. Jews throughout the world pray facing Jerusalem; where all praying Muslims face Mecca. Jerusalem has NEVER been the capitol of any other nation except Israel.

Israel was created in 1948 from 52% of the land formerly occupied by the Jewish and Palestinian people, and Palestine 43%. Most of the Israeli territory was the Negev Desert. Jerusalem fell into neither territory. Palestinians with their unelected, self-serving neighbors declared war on Israel the very next day. In the 1960's they even invaded Israel twice. Full military invasions. The result: Israel survived and pushed them back, gaining territory in the process. This is the origin of what you wrongly call "stealing land". There have been almost daily attacks by Palestinians, incited by their self-serving unelected backers. Palestinians even teach their children at Kindergarten to attack Israel, rather than be peaceful. Children. Kindergarten. From day one, and even today it's wage war on Israel. Israel defends herself. Yes sometimes going too far, which is unacceptable, but self-defense nonetheless. All that needs to happen is for Palestinians to choose peace side by side with Israel. This is more likely going forward now because the unelected dictators are being removed from power by their people, one by one. They will no longer use the Palestinians for their own internal political ploys.

Two groups of people resented and opposed the creation of an Israeli homeland for the Jewish people after the horrors of World War II, notwithstanding that the amount of land was a tiny, minuscule slither relative to the vast lands of the one group, and Jewish people had inhabited that land for millennia. Guess which groups that was, and is. Racist Muslims like Shahied and White Supremacists.

The US and its lackeys in western Europe oppose the right of Palestinians to a state of their own in deeds rather than words, like being opposed to Palestine having an observer status in the UN while screaming for a Palestinian state when the cameras are on. Peace would require concessions and compromise, and Israel being the "stronger" of the two needs to remember that most basic truth: you make peace with your enemies (Hamas), not your friends!

Hypocrisy Epitomized: Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh has no problem calling for the destruction of Israel and blaming it for attacks linked to his own party, but when his relative needs life-saving heart surgery, only Israeli doctors will do. "Ismail Haniyeh’s brother-in-law received a special permit from the Israeli government to travel into the Jewish State to receive life-saving heart surgery" "Haniyeh’s sister Suhila’s husband suffered undisclosed heart problems four months ago that doctors in Gaza were unable to treat, according to Ynetnews.com. The stricken man and his wife were whisked to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva in central Israel, where he was treated, and some days later, the couple returned to Gaza."

Zionists are really a confused bunch, falling all over themselves to defend the Zionist state. How does your post relate to my comment?

"you make peace with your enemies (Hamas), not your friends" and I am proving to you that Israel is only an 'enemy when its suits the Hamas leadership... otherwise they accept the water, electricity, medical assistance etc etc with open arms.

But then to you, Fidel, even Nelson Mandela is a lackey of the West, a phony, a modern-day Uncle Tom. Your exact words on this website. Clearly your perspective is faulty.

In the battle of agendas, Israel has only one - to survive and exist. Whereas hamas, and the rest of the Arab world have an agenda which is to have the Jewish state removed and replaced by a Muslim caliphate. Under the circumstances, there will be no peace, not because Israel does not want it, but because the Muslim and Arab world does not want Israel.

  • Beckie Knight - 2012-11-26 06:13

Britain's calling for peace in the Middle East and yet, it sides with Hamas? More skewed politics!!

      larry.lachman.54 - 2012-11-27 06:48

Britain does not side with Hamas, but they are naive as to Hamas' intentions.

  • doberman.love.1 - 2012-11-26 07:21

British Foreign Secretary William Hague please Google “Hamas's Charter & Goals” and tell us if peace is a possibility with them; unless like Hamas what you William mean by peace is the death of all the Jews of the Middle East as per the Hamas's Holy Koran.
