Chilling picture of Boston bomb suspect

2013-04-22 22:43

Boston - At first glance, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev appeared to be just another teenager standing along the route of the Boston Marathon moments before the carnage of last week's bombings.

Tsarnaev, 19, was seen with a white baseball cap on backwards, a backpack slung casually over his shoulder, and endlessly fiddling with his cellphone.

But the University of Massachusetts student's ice-cold reaction to the first of the two bomb blasts - caught in detail by surveillance cameras - left FBI agents convinced of his involvement in the terror attacks.

While people around him react with shock and panic at the first blast, Tsarnaev ignores the mayhem before calmly walking away in the opposite direction, having planted the second rucksack bomb - a pressure cooker packed with low-grade explosive, nails and ball-bearings - by the curb.

Tsarnaev's chilling detachment was recounted in an affidavit by FBI special agent Daniel Genck released on Monday after the teenager was charged with federal offenses over the bombings that left three people dead and 200 injured.

Genck said that a study of surveillance footage showed Tsarnaev - identified as "Bomber Two" - appearing to make a cell phone call shortly before the first explosion.

"A few seconds after he finishes the call, the large crowd of people around him can be seen reacting to the first explosion," Genck states.

"Virtually every head turns to the east [towards the finish line] and stares in that direction in apparent bewilderment and alarm.

"Bomber Two, virtually alone among the individuals in front of the restaurant, appears calm. He glances to the east and then calmly but rapidly begins moving to the west, away from the direction of the finish line.

"He walks away without his knapsack, having left it on the ground where he had been standing."

Approximately 10 seconds later, Genck states, an explosion occurs in exactly the spot where Tsarnaev had left his backpack.

Tsarnaev could face the death penalty if convicted over the attacks he is alleged to have carried out with his elder brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed during a dramatic confrontation with police last week.

The affidavit also painted a picture of the chaotic scenes that unfolded late on Thursday when the two brothers scrambled to elude law enforcement as the net closed around them.

A few hours after the FBI had taken the step of publishing video and photographic images of the two men, one of them carjacked a man at gunpoint in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The motorist was sitting in his car when one of the Tsarnaev brothers approached, and tapped on a window before forcing his way into the vehicle.

"The man pointed a firearm at the victim and stated 'Did you hear about the Boston explosion?' and 'I did that.'", according to Genck's affidavit.

"The man removed the magazine from his gun and showed the victim that it had a bullet in it and then re-inserted the magazine. The man then stated 'I am serious.'"

After the carjack victim managed to escape at a petrol station, the Tsarnaevs fled in a high-pursuit with police in which they threw at least two home-made bombs out of the car before exchanging gunfire.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in the exchange; Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was arrested on Friday after being discovered hiding in a boat parked in the driveway of a Boston home.

    all a setup

      Piet Boerie - 2013-04-23 05:31

I agree with Ivan. Problem, reaction, solution the very old practice. CISPA got passed on Thursday while we were all looking at Boston. Look at every major event and watch the periphery closer for things like CISPA or the Patriot Act which took human rights back to the dark ages. For Andrew: The US supplied training to the Taliban during the Russian/Afghan conflict. Google. Pakistan security have a lot of involvement too as they are funded by the US. The Bush family had a BBQ in the 1990's with the Taliban on the Texas ranch. The Economist Magazine. So conspiracy: There were no WMD's or terrorist in Iraq as Saddam was secular and hated Wahhabis. How can we trust them now??? The US people need our support more than ever now as their freedoms are now at risk. It is only the armed US population, not for long, keeping the wolf at bay. Blind me with your facts. Only cowards and collaborators thumb down without comment.

There is a conspiracy theory relating to every single major event in the past century, including one that states the USA sank the Titanic. But why would the government have done this? Why are there pictures being released where one looks different to what the other does when they should look the same - who is doing the photoshopping? I consider it far to early to take a stance on this, but I will go will my gut and what cannot be disputed.

@Jo Davis: You are fighting a losing battle against people who have no idea what they are talking about. Its best just to down vote them.

agree 100% and as usual time proves all these bigoted, puny minded ignoramuses wrong. Their problem is that they spend too much time sitting on their brains trying to figure what has happened. The following sites vindicate what you said two days ago. http://imgur.com/a/Nx8EU http://beforeitsnews.com/alternative/2013/04/video-of-tamerlan-tsarnaev-naked-handcuffedwalking-alive-so-how-did-his-body-end-up-like-this-2625886.html http://youtu.be/axQtAFtmtVA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axQtAFtmtVA&feature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axQtAFtmtVA&feature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTgKkldEsMw&feature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-fDFZF9h8Y&feature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=DnX2lIR9ZjU&feature=endscreen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjocGidSLJw&feature=player_embedded

Eish. These beertjies love their conspiracy theories just like the rednecks across the Atlantic. There is zero evidence to suggest a false flag. In fact, all the evidence points to exactly what had happened. There's a reason the alternative media isn't mainstream. The US can't take the chance of bombing it's own citizens. The online evidence is available to all. Make up your own opinion about it, but don't be brainwashed by the alternative media the way they brainwashed Ivan and Piet.

      markt - 2013-04-23 07:32

Crazy conspiracy theorists. F-all to do and all day to do it in.

      AllcoveredinNinjas - 2013-04-23 08:50

Its special kids who reckon they have some inside knowledge that everyone else misses. That's why the character assassination happens like , "wake up!" , " independent thinker" , " mental slave" and the use of the word propaganda which really means anything that doesn't fit or agree with my world perspective.

Ivan & Piet, I agree fully with you guys. Lets look at a few "FACTS" 1) Gold price plummets (not drops but plummets) 2) Boston bomb goes off. 3) Couple of days later, an explosion at a Fertiliser plant (diverting attention ?) 4) Why did the USA government buy 2700 Armoured personal carries ?? 5) Why are the buying billions of rounds of ammunition ??? 6) Expecting "Marshal Law" ???? Food for thought....

Saying this is a conspiracy plotted by the US to cover up or get an excuse to bomb another country is just plain stupid and ignorant. If you have time on your hands and nothing better to do you can find all sorts of blogs about the conspiracy behind it from every angle imaginable. The fact is the evidence is there for all to see but some fail accept than an individual is capable of such destruction and always look to blame others for the crime. These two men misguided as they are do not reflect the view of any group other than the one they conjured up to validate their crime. Unfortunately there actions reflect badly on anyone who happens to be associated with Islam and now the innocent will pay for the crime these stupid idiots committed. I feel sorry for those who lost their lives or got injured in this dreadful event and only hope that vigilantes don’t stoop to the same level and retaliate against those who had no part in this matter. The trip to Russia is also being claimed as the source of their training and such but all you need these days is an internet connection and you will be able to download countless recipes to make your own bomb.

      Badger - 2013-04-23 12:07

Do youself a favour and read "..Economic Hitman.."

Why go to all the effort and NOT want to claim resposibility ? Why go to some random guy and steal his car then claim it was you? They have soooo been setup. It is just so insane , what is worse it that lemmings will be so eager to believe anything their government tells them. Two things I need clarification on . Have a look at the footage one is wearing a dark grey backpack the other a light grey or white, the exploded back pack it Black........ If there is footage of them both placing the backpacks before the boms explode then show it too us, we have already seen the aftermath pictures why not show us the pictures and footage of what happened with them entreing the scene, then planting the devices then the bombs detonating? Or will we be forced to take the governments word for it ? Seems very fimiliar to the "evidence" of the pentagon attck on 911 , what was that ? About FIVE frames of footage, showing NOTHING other than a smoke train. Only lemmings would believe what they are being told. Have a look at the the press conferances , what was told to the public? "Only beleive what we tell you, only look at what we give you.." But you guys are right , wanting all the evidence and making our own judgements is just wrong. You know , Freedom of thought, knowledge is power....

OOOHHH PLEEAASSEE how is it possible that people still conjure up these consipiracy theories everytime an event like this takes place... Perhaps I shouldn't be complaining maybe itbest they are kept busy on the online forums lieu of causing damage trying to contirbute to society. *sigh*

      Zander Nieuwenhuys - 2013-04-24 07:44

WAKE UP for goodness sake... explain to me how any of you are qualified to make such statements and please do qualify the "FACTS" you all are talking about... it absolute non-sense... perhaps the CIA/FBI/NIA/ATF and all those incompetent bodies should have contacted you instead, seeing as you all know sooo much!!! maybe your expertise would have help prevent this tradegy... whats even more pathetic is that you encourage each other! I dunno, it is what it is...
