China condemns Norway attacks

2011-07-23 08:29

Beijing - China on Saturday joined global condemnation of attacks in Norway that killed at least 87 people, despite frosty relations after the Olso-based Nobel Peace Prize went to a Chinese dissident last year.

"China expresses condemnation of the terror attacks and condolences toward its victims," said a brief statement by China's foreign ministry that did not mention Norway by name.

China's statement was relatively mild compared to the condemnation from some other nations around the world, likely reflecting continued Chinese anger over the Nobel issue.

The Oslo-based Nobel committee awarded jailed Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo its peace prize in October 2010.

A furious China responded by cancelling political dialogue with Norway and suspending talks on a free trade pact. Norwegian firms also have reported problems doing business in China.

China is demanding an apology from Norway before agreeing to get relations back on track, Beijing's ambassador was quoted as saying earlier this year.

The Chinese Government are such cynics!!! How can you trust a nation that eats their soup with a stick?

  • ZACommentator - 2011-07-23 09:05

    China? Really?

  • BOFFINBOB - 2011-07-23 09:06

The Chinese....Soon to be Africas " new colonial masters. "

      Rafiq - 2011-07-23 09:24

At least the Chinese will conquer by investing money and not stealing land and natuaral resources.

      Dirk - 2011-07-23 09:31

Sorry to burst your bubble there Rafiq, but the Chinese will invest yes,in infrastructure for themselves and by creating jobs for their people who they import by the tanker load.

      Eric West - 2011-07-23 09:50

LOL @ Rafiq! They are only here for the land (agriculture) and resources. Better you start to learn Madarin although it won't guarantee you a job. As Dirk says, the Chinese prefer to import their own hard-working, non-striking labourers.

I dont see who is responsible for the blasts yet.....or is it the usual peaceful people.

      Shabba1 - 2011-07-23 09:41

If it's not the peace loving people, then I take it that it's the non peaceful people, which ,means that all non peaceful people are killers

      BOFFINBOB - 2011-07-23 10:35

      LOL Eric....Sound familiar ?

Yes, we are all Norwegians! But some are more than others. Well, exactly what is the problem? Before he was a peace man, Mandela was a bomber. Before he was a peace man, Mandela and his terrorist ANC killed and bombed a lot of people, Black People mostly. They followed the Mao strategy of terrorising the People to control them. With the political and material support of Labour Socialists around Europe. When Sweden was giving 100 Million a year, they were saying viva bomber Mandela! they all were saying Viva McVeigh! Viva Breivik! Fabian Stang displays his mental shortcoming by failing to realize that it was part of his job to stop Breivik. And if he was on the island, it was is duty to stop the attacker, not to stand and get shot! Nut case!

      Best comment ever!!!

Your record is stuck. Anything else to say besides regurgitating the same nonsense?

  • Eric West - 2011-07-23 09:46

Good! Now those liberal Norwegians know how we felt after Mandela's cadres set off the Church Street bomb ... and many other bombs, too. Karma sure is a biaatch!

      cyber_writer - 2011-07-24 10:29

Good? Good that a whole lot of young lives were lost? So because Norway supported the ANC during apartheid, it's "karma" that many youngsters have died. Shame on you.

  • papaRoach - 2011-07-23 10:10

You boerkies need to SHUTUP! So what if Mandela bombed your streets, it was a liberation struggle against an oppressive regime filled with hate for black people. How can you even begin to mourn about the bombs while you subjected black people to inhumane conditions on a daily basis? You lot are nothing but muggets!

      lilo69 - 2011-07-23 10:31

17 yrs and they still playing the blame game. Wake up man,are you seriously that blind or do you just see in black and white? You got "your" country now prove you can run it....i somehow think not.

      Dirk - 2011-07-23 14:10

Funny how they killed more blacks than the evil white man papaRoach. PS. If your name indicates your choice in music, shame, try some Slayer, maybe you will start to make better comments.

This NoBEL prize for peace prizes are rather political subjective choices. eg Obama was given one prematurely

      Hochang - 2011-07-23 14:10

Deciding whom the Nobel prize is given to is not decided by Norwegians.
