Beijing - China's commerce minister says his government wants to convert some of its huge holdings of US government debt into investment in American roads and railways.

Chen Deming told a business group Friday his government wants to expand commercial and investment cooperation with the United States in infrastructure, clean energy and and technology industries.

Chen cited infrastructure in particular, saying he was very impressed with US subways and roads when he visited the country 20 years ago but systems in many cities need to be renovated.

He said China was willing to turn debt holdings into investments, "hoping to create jobs for the United States".

Chinese are brilliant, imagine, once they have control of the ENTIRE USA civil works system, roads, rail, water...etc...what happens then...the USA becomes just another State of China...economic Warfare...clean, silent but very effective....the very same tactics the ANC employs in SA, the Chinese are MASTERS at this and one must respect this...wrong or right

Is SA currently another state of the EU or US as those countries have investments in this country currently? What happened to the ideology of FDI that is so loved by the Free Market Fundamentalist.
