Chinese website blasts Dalai Lama

Beijing - A state-run Chinese website has launched a bitter attack on the Dalai Lama by accusing the exiled Buddhist leader of "Nazi-style" racial policies and of inciting Tibetans to set themselves on fire.

The commentary on China Tibet Online, also carried on Saturday by the Xinhua News Agency, is one of the strongest reactions from Beijing to a string of protests in ethnic Tibetan areas in China.

About 30 Tibetan monks, nuns and lay people have set themselves on fire in the past year to protest what they say are repressive government policies against their religion and culture. Many seek the return of the Dalai Lama.

The government-backed website blames the Dalai Lama "for instigating self-immolations and advocating Nazi-style racial segregation ideas."

Not that ridiculous! Ask the followers of dorje shugden how religiously tollerant 'his supreme holiness' is... Then look up the definition of 'dictator', who, was never elected by any tibetans...

@poaul . Your Ignorance is insulting . A Dalai Lama is never elected , he is the incarnation of Buddha. What would you say if I tell you that Jesus Christ was never elected ?????? You havent got the faintest clue what you are talking about . Your ignorance is an insult to Bhuddists!!!! FYI The Dhalai Lama has never preached violence . even although his country is occupied by China and thousands of his people had been killed during the occupation and oppresion in Tibet

@Diaan, ""Your ignorance is an insult to Bhuddists!!!! "" That's lunacy. Since when is criticizing the head of a religious movement, an insult to its followrs?? I believe the Pope is guilty of crimes against humanity, but that does not mean, that I can't respect Roman Catholics I don't have any time for the Dhalai Lama, as he is not this peace loving man, he pretends to be. In every single country he has visited, and even in the ones he could not visit, he has created controversy!!!! It is better he stays right where he is. But, the Bhuddist that I know===Great people !!

I have never sed that the Dalai Lama is above criticism. Of course he can be criticized for his actions. BUT to say that he was never elected is a severe insult to Buddhist practice that is older than two centuries. Buddhist believe that the Dalai Lama is the incarnation of Buddha and at the death of a Dalai Lama they have go and find his new incarnation (which is a long and cumbersome procedure and to long to explain to you). So in effect he is elected. . Your criticism is not against the Dalai Lama But against Buddhists practices that is centuries old. Practices that they freely practice with no harm to anyone

People should try and acquaint themselves with the real history of Tibet and their spiritual leaders instead of swallowing everything propagated by western liberals and NGOs. You clearly have no idea of what Lama’s theocracy entailed – physical bondage and slavery (watch an old Nat Geo documentary on YouTube). The Buddhist monks were a terrible lot towards other Tibetans having monopolised every resource belonging to Tibetans. Study history and learn who the real oppressors were/are!
