Clinton slams anti-Islam video

2012-09-13 16:55

Washington - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is sharpening her criticism of an anti-Islam video that has provoked protests in the Arab world.

Clinton says the film is "disgusting and reprehensible". She calls it a cynical attempt to offend people for their religious beliefs.

But Clinton says the US would never stop Americans from expressing their views, no matter how distasteful. And she says the film is no justification for violence or attacks on US diplomatic facilities and personnel.

Clinton said on Thursday the US is monitoring protests in Yemen and elsewhere. She's urging countries to take steps to prevent protests escalating into violence.

    Well said. Completely right.

Having watched the video it is quite inflammatory, however a few quotes are taken from the kuran in their correct context. But the real issue is how on earth can you justify the killing and attack of anybody simply because an unrelated member of their country produced some reprehensible media, that was only disseminated locally and online, not through any state sanctioned media company. I think that reflects more on the Muslim world than any Christian crack pot's film.

In South Africa we call it racism. It may be freedom of expression, but its hateful.

      Ouklip - 2012-09-13 17:37

The video was made by a Egyption Coptic Christian. So what is racist about it?

I would still like to se the DVD and make my own decisions about it.

I think most people didn't know about this video until they started storming embassies and burning things. "Religion of peace"

Anytime someone says you can’t criticize their beliefs, it’s because their beliefs are too weak to withstand scrutiny.

Wonder if they would respect freedom of speech if someone praised Hitlers "Holocaust" and made a video about it?

They have... and they do... See any Jews storming embassies lately? There are hundreds of anti-Semitic movies & shows on Egyptian, Syrian, Saudi and other Arab channels... you can even youtube them… the latest one is from Turkey where it portrays a Jew that is looking for Muslim blood in order to make some food… the response from the Jewish community you ask? It’s peaceful.

Hillary pulling one of her stunts again...good actor from White house, tries to say the right things only when it suits them ! Muslims will never accept any insults againsts any of the Prophets.

Its time for the rest of the world to learn it but looks no lesson is hard enough for so called "peace-makers" to understand that there are some certain lines they mustn't cross. After all who is to blame for the loss of lives if not themselves?
