Dubai - Police seized 93 kilograms of cocaine coming from Brazil with a street value of 140 million dirhams ($52.3m), local media reported on Wednesday.

The UAE daily Al-Bayan cited police officials saying the drugs, hidden in three suitcases, were on route to a third country. The report did not give further details.

This is the largest shipment of drugs seized in the Middle East this year, according to Al-Bayan, which said that Brazilian and Dubai officials were co-ordinating their investigation into the origin of the drugs.

Dubai, one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, has very strict drug laws.

Trafficking in illegal narcotics is punishable by death, though the sentences are often changed to life imprisonment.

It's that time of the year. Orders start peaking. Just hope no more Saffas are caught though.

Seems like an international drug trafficking week. Just too many stories relating to drugs this week alone. Just goes to show that dealing with the tail end of the problem isn't going to make it go away. Its high time the authorities start using the mules to track down the kingpins. Sometimes to win a war, you have to sacrifice a battle or two. In the case of Nolubabalo in Bangkok, by letting her through and tracking her to the said hotel, they could have arrested the mule and the local distributor.

it's so easy to stop drug dealing. If the authorities offered a reward of 50% of the value of drugs found as a result of a tip off, the snitches and scumbags would be lining up to squeal on each other. It's all about the money

Seems everyone is getting ready for the Christmas rush!! If you in retail you know to keep your shelves stocked for the festive season. Even if u a drug dealer... Sad thing is how many lives they destroy. Its not just the users too, its their families as well as communities :(
