Brownsville - Police have shot and killed an armed 15-year-old student at a middle school in Texas.

Brownsville police detective JJ Trevino says police received a call around 08:00 on Wednesday about a person with a weapon. Police found the student in a hallway and shot him.

The gunman was a student at the school.

Trevino says the school was immediately placed on lockdown. No one else was injured.

What a dumb story. No reason given for the killing. Being armed is no reason for him to be killed. If the armed man did not threaten or hurt anyone then these cops are guilty of murder. What are the facts?????

They fail to mention he was armed with a pellet gun.

Yes but he refused to put the pellet gun down and cops had no way of knowing it. Life is tough, but it's even tougher if you are stupid.

@news24 There needs to be more facts before you print news like this.

I appreciate the recession is over...but surely there must be enough guys looking for a position as a journalist who can actually write for News24...this is a bit of a disgrace to this news site.

This is what this news article should have included, if proper details cannot be included in the report then its best to not publish anything at all. Its seems standards at News24 are rapidly going downhill

What he was carrying was an air gun, not even a real weapon and only lethal in the most extreme of cases. Disgusting. Do your job News24, you're slipping down a slippery slope where your international stories are clearly fed to you like a child being fed bad food.
